  • Roberta Flack

Roberta Flack made music history when she won the Grammy for Record of the Year two years in a row – first in 1973 for her definitive version of “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” and again in 1974 for “Killing Me Softly with his Song.” Flack continued to top the charts with the hit “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and recorded more classic duets with Donny Hathaway including “Where Is the Love” and “The Closer I Get to You” over the course of the ’70s. Excelling at piano while still very young and entering Howard University with a full music scholarship at the age of 15, one could say that Flack had always been ahead of the curve. But what makes her so timeless is her elegant voice, brilliant song interpretations, and emotionally resonant delivery. Her light jazz ballads are still radio staples today and her voice is utterly moving on vinyl.
