  • The Hollies

Formed in Manchester in the early 1960s and named after “Buddy and Christmas,” this English pop-rock band was part of the original British Invasion. Known for their bright vocal harmonies, The Hollies were heavily influenced by American acts like The Everly Brothers and of course Buddy Holly. While they began their career doing mostly covers and songs written for them by Graham Gouldman, lead vocalist Allan Clarke, guitarist Graham Nash, and guitarist Tony Hicks eventually became the band’s main songwriting team. Nash left the group at the end of 1968 and formed the supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash. The Hollies never broke up, however, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. If you have the chance to get these Merseybeat staples on vinyl, do not hesitate!
