The Meters
The Meters were a funk band based out of Louisiana. Recording and performing during the 1960’s and 1970’s, The Meters were pioneers in the funk genre. Although they never enjoyed commercial success as they should, The Meters were acclaimed by critics who knew they were on to something big. Two of their songs “Sophisticated Cissy” and “Cissy Strut” were both major hits on the charts while they were also working on several important records with some of the major singers of their era. Listening to The Meters on vinyl sure brings you back to the beginning of the funk era in a great way.
