  • Eric Dolphy

As one of several groundbreaking jazz alto players, Eric Dolphy rose to fame in the 1960’s. He was considered to be the first important bass clarinet soloist in jazz and one of the earliest best flute soloists. He has an inspiration style that made him hugely popular because they were uncharacteristic of any other free jazz musician of his day. Posthumously he was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame, but before that he was able to record such famous albums as “Out There” and “Outward Bound.” His incredible clarinet playing sounds remarkable on vinyl.
