  • Diana Ross and the Supremes

Diana Ross and the Supremes were by far the most popular female singing group, probably of all time. Active from 1959 to 1977, The Supremes made a mixture of doo-wop, pop, soul, and disco tunes that made them extremely commercially successful. With 12 of their songs peaking at #1, only the Beatles could match their popularity during the 1960’s. With mainstream success due to songs such as “Baby Love” and “Stop in the Name of Love” Diana Ross and the Supremes had a huge impact as feminine black singers. Their songs are so much fun and should be heard on vinyl the way they were during their era.
