As an innovator of Russian music, Modest Mussorgsky was one of the Russian composers known as the Five. He had a unique Russian musical identity that was very different from what was ever heard before. His passion and pain in the music he composed can clearly be heard on vinyl, which is quite breathtaking. Many of his works, such as opera Boris Godunov, were inspired by Russian history and folklore. Modest Mussorgsky’s music is vivid and hypnotizing just as the man himself.
