Show Boat

Show Boat is an outstanding musical that is written in two acts with music by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein. Based on a best selling 1926 novel of the same name, Show Boat is considered to be the first true American musical play which showed the dramatic form of the plot along with music. The music itself is such a big part of this play with songs like “Make Believe” and “Ol’ Man River.” “Hey Feller” which was taken out of the original production and then later put back sounds especially great since they later added it onto the vinyl soundtrack of Show Boat. All in all, this is a wonderful musical that really stood the test of time.
