  • Aladdin Sane

Following the success of “Ziggy Stardust,” the 6th album by David Bowie “Aladdin Sane” was Bowie’s first album written and song as a pop star.  Widely anticipated, this album is still considered one of his best due to the great material that it contained.  Ranked #277 of the Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums of all time, “Aladdin Sane” was a development of the Ziggy Stardust character.  More Americanized than previous albums, it had a tougher edge to it specifically in songs such as “Panic in Detroit” and “Let’s Spend the Night Together.”  Other hit singles included “The Jean Genie” and “Drive-In Saturday” which had a more R&B quality than fans were used to hearing but nonetheless, they loved them.  The album debuted at the top of the charts and reached #17 in the US which was the highest so far.  With masterful arrangements, this album was just another one of Bowie’s greatest accomplishments.
