Charles Ives
Charles Ives was a highly regarded American composer of modernist classical music. As one of the first American classical composers of significance, Charles Ives was almost largely ignored during his life with most of his most famous works performed for the first time after his death. Regarded now as an American Original, Ives combined the American popular and church music to create experimental music with techniques such as polyrhythm, tone clusters, and polytonality. His most accomplished works such as “Holiday’s Symphony” and “Three Places in New England” are so moving when you hear them on vinyl.
