Christoph Willibald Gluck was noted as bringing the practical reform of opera’s practices that changed opera as we know it. With influential works such as Alceste and Orfeo ed Euridice, he enjoyed a lot of success in that century. He used the strong influence of French opera to fuse together the traditions of Italian opera with the French genre that he was so well known for.
