  • Footsteps in the Dark, Greatest Hits Vol. 2

Released in 1984, this Cat Stevens greatest hits compilation is a must-have for Harold and Maude fans. It includes memorable songs featured in the 1971 film including  “Where Do the Children Play?” “On the Road to Find Out,” “Trouble,” and the previously unreleased “If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out” and “Don’t Be Shy.” Unlike Stevens’ 1975 greatest hits compilation, this is more of a “greatest non-hits” album with the only overlap between the two being “Father & Son” from 1970’s Tea for the Tillerman. Representing seven of the nine albums Stevens released between 1970 and 1978, plus the non-LP B-side “I Want to Live in a Wigwam,” Footsteps in the Dark is a considerably comprehensive overview of Stevens’ best album tracks. More importantly, it goes beyond his pop side to reveal a more sensitive folk singer-songwriter.
