  • Harry Nilsson

One of the greatest unsung singer-songwriters of the 20th century was also (ironically) the Beatles’ favorite American musician. He even recorded an album with John Lennon in 1974 called Pussy Cats. With a multi-octave vocal range and songwriting skills to match, Harry Nilsson’s songs have been recorded by the Monkees, Fred Astaire, the Shangri-Las, the Yardbirds, Aimee Mann – even Mariah Carey. Nilsson also enjoyed his own hits “Everybody’s Talkin'” (featured in the 1969 film Midnight Cowboy), “Coconut,” “Without You,” and his original “One.” In addition to contributing music to Midnight Cowboy, Nilsson scored the 1971 animated film The Point! and has been featured in a long list of films including Goodfellas, Forrest Gump, and Magnolia. Take the Beatles advice on this one.
