Squarepusher
Tom “Squarepusher” Jenkinson is an English electronic artist that takes drum and bass to a whole new place, drawing equally from jazz and jungle. With a manic, experimental approach, he combines dizzying breakbeat techo and post-bop progressive jazz, often sampling his own drums, fret-less bass, and keyboards. Squarepusher has released a string of acclaimed EPs and LPs throughout the late ‘90s and 2000s, most notably 1998’s live instrumentation-based Music Is Rotted One Note, 2004’s spectacular Ultravisitor, 2006’s playful Hello Everything, and 2008’s feverishly surreal Just a Souvenir. These are mind-blowing on vinyl.
