N.W.A., led by greats Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E, was a Compton based gangsta rap group that prevailed through a lot of controversy with their music. As one of the first commercially successful gangsta rap groups, they were banned from a lot of radios and stadiums but still managed to sell millions of records. “Straight Outta Compton” had a mass appeal and suddenly gangsta rap originated and was popular even with middle class America. Their political speeches and social commentary on life makes for a great vinyl album.
