Billie Holiday
Billie Holiday had a strong vocal style that is very distinctive. As a jazz singer and songwriter, Billie Holiday was a pioneer in the way she manipulated the words and tempo giving jazz music a more intimate feeling. Some of her best songs are now jazz standards such as “Embraceable You” and “God Bless the Child.” She was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame posthumously which is an honor in itself. When you hear her emotional songs on vinyl you realize what an amazing singer she is.
