  • Ascension

Ascension is one of many in a line of outstanding albums by John Coltrane. This one released in 1965 on Impulse Records, just two years before his death from cancer at the age of 40.  Coltrane was a master jazz saxophonist and a composer without compare in the field of jazz during his most productive years.  He is also featured on hundreds of albums by other jazz musicians and singers.  Ascension itself is considered a groundbreaking album, creating looser and more free-flowing jazz styling modes in albums of the genre released afterwards.  It is a true masterpiece of jazz.
