Weather Report
Weather Report is considered one of the greatest jazz fusion groups, and was highly influential in both jazz and rock circles in the 1970's. It was founded by keyboardist Joe Zawinul and saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Both musicians had played with Miles Davis in the 1960's, and were both instrumental in the innovation of the jazz fusion sound. Weather Report is also notable for launching the career of the bass virtuoso Jaco Pastorious. During the 1970's, Weather Report toured constantly, and released several albums, most of which achieved popular and critical acclaim. Their most famous album, "Heavy Weather" featured the popular song "Birdland", and is a high point in the band's history. Hear this classic on vinyl for the ultimate jazz fusion experience.
