  • Carole King

Carole King is a singer, songwriter, and pianist whose impact far exceeds her landmark 1971 album, Tapestry, which broke records when it topped the charts for 15 weeks and remained on the charts for more than six years. King has composed over 100 hit songs beginning with the Shirelles’ “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” in 1961 and including Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel) Like a Natural Woman,” Bobby Vee’s “Take Good Care of My Baby,” the Chiffons’ “One Fine Day,” and Little Eva’s “The Locomotion.” The ’70s was King’s decade to shine as a solo artist, and she did so with a string of hit albums—Tapestry (1971), Music (1971), Rhymes & Reasons (1972), Fantasy (1973), Wrap Around Joy (1974), and Thoroughbred (1976)—which contained hit singles like “It’s Too Late,” “I Feel the Earth Move,” “Sweet Seasons,” “Jazzman,” and “Nightingale.” Her most recent releases include 2010’s Live at the Troubadour, a live album featuring her 2007 performance with James Taylor at the legendary West Hollywood venue, and her very first Christmas album, A Holiday Carole (2011). Listening to King on vinyl is truly a one-of-a-kind experience.
