  • Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits 1971

Fleetwood Mac’s first greatest hits compilation is a concise best-of collection from the band’s original Peter Green blues era, spanning from 1968 to 1971. Green originals like “Black Magic Woman,” “Albatross,” “Oh Well (Parts 1 and 2),” and “Man of the World” are all here, along with classic blues covers like Elmore James’ “Shake Your Moneymaker.” But the real lynch pin is the British single “The Green Manalishi,” which was not released in the States. Considered by many to be the Green God’s best work, it was his last hit with Fleetwood Mac before leaving the band. The only post-Green song on the album is Danny Kirwan’s “Dragonfly.” Never issued in the US, the vinyl version of this 1971 Greatest Hits compilation is only available as an import. Beware the 1989 CBS CD “reissue,” which features an almost completely different track listing.
