  • Ben Harper

With his signature lap steel guitar, smart lyrics, and eclectic mix of blues, folk, Hendrix-influenced rock, and jam-band funk, Southern California native Ben Harper has gone from college radio favorite to two-time Grammy-winning artist. His critically acclaimed 1994 debut Welcome to the Cruel World, its politically heavy 1995 follow-up Fight for Your Mind, and the bluesy folk of 1997’s The Will to Live earned Harper an international fan base, but it was 1999’s Burn to Shine and its single “Steal My Kisses” that really launched Harper’s career in the States. A profoundly accomplished musician, singer, and songwriter, Harper’s greatest gift is arguably his ability to find resolution in weighty topics, stripping things down to their simple, poetic truths – and you can be sure these truths sound all the more powerful on wax.
