  • Lucinda Williams

Heralded by critics as “the female Bob Dylan,” Lucinda Williams has captured the hearts of Americans with her songs of loss, love, and heartbreak. Her strong songwriting skills have earned Grammy Awards, been covered by the likes of Mary Chapin Carpenter and Tom Petty, and went gold with 1998’s Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. But it’s Williams’ crossover appeal that is perhaps her most impressive feature. Beginning her career with an album of blues and country covers in 1979, Williams has won Grammys in the country, folk, and rock categories, and upheld a longstanding tradition of collaborating with artists as diverse as Flogging Molly and Elvis Costello. She even covered AC/DC on her 2008 release Little Honey. Williams returns in 2011 with the culmination of her 30-plus year career, Blessed, a seamless album that reflects her artistic maturity.
