Regina Spektor
This Russian-born, classically trained singer-songwriter-pianist got her start in New York’s anti-folk scene and self-released her debut album, 11:11, in 2001. After recording her third album, Soviet Kitsch, with the Strokes’ producer, Gordon Raphael, Regina Spektor signed to Sire Records and has continued releasing acclaimed art-pop albums on the label. Her charmingly quirky piano romps, vocal experimentation, and combination of old and new world influences have always distinguished her from the crowd and make this unorthodox songstress especially great on vinyl.
