Stone Temple Pilots
Stone Temple Pilots has to be one of the most “mixed reviews” bands in history. While critics could not find one good thing to say about the band, everyone else disagreed. They burst onto the scene right at the tail end of the grunge scene, and yet, while sounding somewhat grungy, that was only one layer of the band’s sound. Incorporating elements from all types of rock music into one cohesive sound is a feat pulled off by no one but STP. Hearing their grinding, percussive sound on anything but vinyl is just not the same.
