  • They Might Be Giants

Oversized fezzes, Dial-A-Song, “Birdhouse in Your Soul” – these are just a few of the things we have to thank They Might Be Giants for. Formed in Brooklyn in 1982 by old high school friends John Flansburgh and John Linnell, They Might Be Giants remain one of the quirkiest alt-rock bands around. Known for their clever wordplay, atypical instrumentation (sax and accordion), poppy melodies, and surrealist sense of humor, TMBG released a string of successful albums throughout the late ’80s and early ’90s, their most famous being 1990’s Flood. As the ’90s progressed, TMBG started writing music for film and television. More recently, they have won two Grammy Awards for their albums of children’s music. Though TMBG were the first major label band to release an entire album online in mp3 format, they sound especially out of this world on vinyl.
