  • Ummagumma

Ummagumma is a double album by Pink Floyd, containing both live recordings and studio material. While the first disc was recorded live at the Mothers Club, Birmingham, and at the Manchester College of Commerce, the second disc contains four individual pieces by each of the members of the band. The record was released in October of 1969 in the UK and later that year in the US. It peaked at #5 on the UK charts and #74 on the US charts, eventually becoming a platinum record. Although the album’s curious title is supposed to have come from a Cambridge slang word for sex, band members have stated that the word is in fact meaningless.
