  • Dropkick Murphys

Formed in 1996 in the South Boston town of Quincy, Dropkick Murphys combine hardcore punk with traditional Irish folk instruments like mandolin, bagpipes, and tin whistle. Getting their start playing in a barbershop basement, their distinct brand of Celtic punk has been embraced by Boston sports teams and featured in three Academy Award-nominated films. Baseball fans will recognize “I’m Shipping up to Boston” from the band’s 2005 album The Warrior’s Code, which has become a Red Sox anthem. “The State of Massachusetts” from the band’s 2007 major label debut, The Meanest of Times, became an instant radio hit as well. With seven studio albums to date, their latest featuring Bruce Springsteen, Dropkick Murphys are just as good on vinyl as they are on St. Patty’s Day.
