  • Green Day

Getting their start at the all-ages 924 Gilman Street punk club in Berkeley, Green Day – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool – became a global powerhouse in 1994 with the release of their major label debut, Dookie. This album didn’t just win a Grammy, it helped revive punk in the wake of grunge’s reign. What’s most impressive about Green Day, though, is their ability to stay relevant two decades later. After a slight dip in popularity, the band had one of the most impressive artistic comebacks with 2004’s American Idiot. It took home the Grammy for Best Rock Album and found Green Day engaging a whole new youth generation. American Idiot has since become a Tony Award-winning Broadway rock opera, and been followed up by another Grammy Award-winning album, 2009’s 21st Century Breakdown. Needless to say, the world’s most popular pop-punk band is amazing on vinyl.
