  • Symphony No. 6

Symphony No. 6 (Op. 68), also known as the Pastoral Symphony, was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven in F major. The symphony was completed in 1808 and is one of Beethoven’s few works of program music. The piece was premiered along with the more famous fifth symphony on December 22nd at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna. This symphony, which was labeled at the premiere with the title, “Recollections of Country Life, is considered to be a classic example of a symphonic representation of nature. However, contrasted with the more lively and flamboyant fifth symphony, the sixth was initially received rather coldly by the audience and the critics.

    Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 Movements:

    1. Allegro ma non troppo
    2. Andante molto mosso
    3. Allegro
    4. Allegro
    5. Allegretto
