As one of the most important French composers and music theorists of the Baroque era, Jean-Philippe Rameau is also considered the leading French author of music for the harpsichord. Jean-Philippe Rameau was in his 40’s when he became known for his work as a major theorist of music but from then to his death he was highly regarded. His opera career only started when he was 50 years old with his debut Hippolyte et Aricie which had a revolutionary use of harmony. The appreciation for his music has made resurgence in recent years, especially since you can now hear it in all of its glory on vinyl.
