Though he bears a striking resemblance to his country legend grandfather Hank Williams in terms of voice and physical appearance, Shelton Hank Williams III’s music is very much his own. Rebelling against the restrictions of the Nashville sound, Hank III is influenced as much by punk and metal as his country heritage. His live show is known to feature a country music set with traditional fiddle and slide guitar followed by a “hellbilly” set and a punk-metal set. Releasing his first solo album in 1999, Hank III continues to break the mold. His unpredictability and independent spirit have earned him a wide fan base, and his outlaw-like creativity is meant to stretch out on the wide grooves of a vinyl record.
