Aphex Twin
Forward-thinking British electronic musician Aphex Twin, aka Richard James, was described by The Guardian as “the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music,” and indeed he has carried the torch from Brian Eno into the modern era. Aphex Twin albums encompass a range of electronic styles including acid house, ambient techno, symphonic ambient, jungle, and industrial drum‘n’bass. One interesting aspect of Aphex Twins’ more recent minimalist acid-techno Analord series is that it was recorded on magnetic tape and then later pressed on vinyl – a medium James greatly prefers to digital.
