  • Gorillaz

Created by Blur’s Damon Albarn and comic book artist Jamie Hewlett in 1998, Gorillaz is a “virtual hip-hop” group comprised of four cartoon band members: 2-D, Murdoc, Noodle, and Russel. Over the course of their three albums, artists including Del the Funky Homosapien, Dan the Automator, Danger Mouse, De La Soul, as well as members of Blur, Cibo Matto, and Tom Tom Club have all contributed to the project, which combines Albarn’s Brit-pop sensibility with hip-hop, dance, and rock. Not only have Gorillaz enjoyed chart-topping hits all over the globe—like “Clint Eastwood” and “19-2000” from their 2001 eponymous debut album, and “Feel Good Inc.” and “DARE” from 2005’s Demon Days—they have broken new ground in the audio-visual world and will blow your mind on vinyl.
