  • Miles & Monk At Newport

Miles & Monk at Newport is a combined album of an appearance by Miles Davis at Newport and an appearance of Thelonious Monk. Contrary to what the title suggests, the two recordings are from different performances and the two legendary jazz musicians do not perform together inĀ  this album. The record features a number of up tempo performances of bebop tracks and other standards of Davis’ live sets from the period, which were taken from a 1958 performance at Newport. Also featured are a few tracks by Thelonious Monk’s combo and eccentric clarinet artist Pee Wee Russell, from a 1963 appearance, also at Newport.
