  • Ornette Coleman

Ornette Coleman is one of the major innovators of the free jazz movement that came about in the 50’s and 60’s. As a powerful saxophonist, violinist, trumpeter and composer, Ornette Coleman drew his inspiration from blues music and from his plastic saxophone that he used for many of his early years. His album “Sound Grammar” received the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for music. If you can’t get around to seeing him perform, which is amazing, listening to Ornette Coleman is the next best thing.
