Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers with Thelonious Monk
Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers with Thelonious Monk album was the 1957 collaboration between two of the pioneers of modern, cool jazz sounds and intonations. Each a jazz master in his own right, Blakey and Monk combined forces to produce a powerhouse album of sound and color. Blakey’s Jazz Messengers group never sounded better than in support of the jazz drummer and the genre’s up-and-coming herald of a new jazz era. Produced by Nesuhi Ertegun, older brother of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, the album was released by Atlantic to critical praise. It’s a must-have for jazz enthusiasts.
