Sly Stone
Sly Stone was an influential musician in the 1970’s when he was the frontman for Sly and the Family Stone. Having put soul, r&b, jazz, and rock sounds together, Sly was one of the pioneers of the funk movement. He was tremendously influential to many musicians spanning several genres, and enjoyed a very wide fan base. Since the mid 1980’s, Sly Stone has been somewhat of a recluse, while still reportedly producing music. To get a real audio treat, pick up some Sly and the Family Stone vinyl. I can’t express how awesome funk music sounds on vinyl.
