    War (band)War was founded in the late 1960’s, and has been recognized as one of the most unique and eclectic funk bands ever. Their sound is a combination of many elements, including rock, soul, r&b, jazz, and even latin and caribbean music. With eight members in the band, War has been able to achieve an impressive layered sound, with their vocal harmonies being a major standout. They wrote several hits in the 1970’s, such as “Low Rider”, “Why Can’t We Be Friends”, and “Slippin’ Into Darkness”. In addition to their classic party tunes like “Low Rider”, War wrote several songs that showed a political and social awareness. War is truly one of the greatest American bands ever, and they will knock you out on vinyl.
