Fleetwood Mac Live
Fleetwood Mac’s 1980 double live album captures the band at the top of its game. Recorded during a massive world tour in support of 1979’s Tusk, the track listing actually shows a preference for material from Fleetwood Mac’s 1975 eponymous album and 1977’s Rumours . What’s unique about this live collection is that the songs were recorded in different cities, taking the listener on tour with the band. There are also some surprises – Lindsey Buckingham’s cover of the Peter Green-era “Oh Well,” “Don’t Let Me Down Again” from the Buckingham Nicks debut album, a rare backstage recording of the Beach Boys’ “The Farmer’s Daughter” – as well as a new song from both Christine McVie (“One More Night”) and Stevie Nicks (“Fireflies”). While the new songs and rarities make this album great, it’s the raw, energetic performances of old favorites that make it essential. From Wichita to Tokyo to Paris, “Go Your Own Way” has never rocked so hard and “Landslide” has never been so moving.
