  • Death Cab for Cutie

With their sensitive, moody lyrics, smart arrangements, and unmistakable name (which they took from the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band song in the Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour film), Death Cab for Cutie played an instrumental role in the indie music rebirth of the early ’00s. Beginning as the songwriting vehicle of Ben Gibbard (whose side project the Postal Service is also quite popular), Death Cab now features guitarist/producer Chris Walla, bassist Nick Harmer, and drummer Jason McGerr. They are the ultimate indie success story – a local Bellingham, Washington band that went from the garage to the Grammys, their music featured on television shows like The O.C., Six Feet Under, and Californication. Their wistful mood is perfect for vinyl.
