Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
An alternative rock trio that has been playing raucous, blues-infused rock and roll since the early ’90s, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion is far more “explosion” than blues. Led by Jon Spencer, former frontman of scuzz-rock band Pussy Galore, and featuring guitarist Judah Bauer and drummer Russell Simins, the New York City-based group incorporates punk energy, funk grooves, and hip-hop beats into its noisy songs to make for one big blast of sweat and excitement. This has led JSBX to work with an impressive list of artists over the last two decades including Beck, Elliott Smith, Steve Albini, DJ Shadow, Chuck D, Solomon Burke, and the Beastie Boys.
