  • Bad Religion

Born out of the Southern California hardcore punk scene of the early-’80s, Bad Religion is one of the most successful independent punk bands to date. Remaining a vital part of the hardcore punk scene for over a decade, Bad Religion also laid the groundwork for contemporary pop-punk and enjoyed a handful of alternative rock radio hits in the mid-’90s including “21st Century (Digital Boy)” and “Infected.” Bad Religion’s influence stretches far beyond its own musical output to include that of Epitaph Records, the independent punk label established by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz in 1980 and whose roster has featured the Offspring, Social Distortion, and Weezer, among many others. Listening to Bad Religion’s three-part vocal harmonies, intelligent lyrics, and socio-political commentary on vinyl certainly takes you back.
