  • New York Dolls

They lit the initial spark for New York punk in the early ‘70s and helped open doors for more influential New York bands like the Ramones, Television, Talking Heads, and Blondie. Combining dirty, Stonesy riffs with a glam-rock aesthetic, the New York Dolls created a form of hard rock whose influence would stretch from new wave to heavy metal and from New York to London. Their first two albums, 1973’s New York Dolls and 1974’s Too Much Too Soon, are cult classics and essential on vinyl.
