  • The Misfits

This New Jersey horror-punk band is iconic for its obsession with skulls, infectious melodies, and frontman Glenn Danzig’s unmistakable bellow. Formed in 1977, the Misfits released a number of albums that became touchstones of the early-’80s hardcore punk scene before disbanding in 1983. A series of posthumous compilations—Legacy of Brutality (1985), Misfits aka Collection I (1986), and Collection II (1995)—earned them a rabid cult following. From 1995-2000, the band minus Danzig enjoyed a second, more heavy metal-oriented incarnation with singer Michale Graves. After that, original bassist Jerry Only took over lead vocals and was joined by former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone for a several year run. The band’s current lineup of Only, Cadena, and drummer Eric Arce have a new album titled The Devil’s Rain on the way. When it comes to the Misfits and vinyl, you absolutely can’t go wrong.
