  • Battery Operated

Battery operated record players can run either exclusively on batteries or include an AC power adapter, useful for those that don’t plan on portable use of their turntable. Though such record players will typically run on multiple D cell batteries, some such record players will run on smaller batteries, size AA or even A. These turntables are typically not marketed to the professional DJ or serious vinyl enthusiast, but rather as novelty items or players geared toward parents of young children, though USB turntables will often include batteries as well, an obvious benefit for use with a laptop.

There are many companies currently manufacturing battery operated record players, including Fisher Price, ION, Numark, and Hammacher Schlemmer. Retro-consumer electronic company Crosley Radio recently released the “Revolution,” an ultra-small portable record player that is battery operated, USB equipped, and marketed to the hip clothing store Urban Outfitters.
